Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance? I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. This means that I don't bill insurance directly. However, I'm happy to provide you with a superbill (essentially a receipt of service) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Whether your plan covers out-of-network mental health services depends on your specific plan, so I'd recommend calling your insurance provider to ask before we get started.

What are your fees? My standard fee is $210 for a 60-minute session. I also offer longer and intensive session formats, which are prorated at $250/hour. Please reach out for details on those. Payment is handled through your Simple Practice client portal, where you will keep a credit or debit card on file to be charged automatically after each session.

Do you offer telehealth? Yes. I offer telehealth sessions to adults throughout Washington State via secure video. I also offer walk-and-talk outdoor sessions seasonally near Chimacum and Port Townsend. At this time I do not have a traditional office.

Are you accepting new patients? Yes, I am currently accepting new patients! Please reach out via the contact page to schedule a free 20- to 30-minute consultation.

What do you specialize in? My primary specialty is trauma, particularly complex trauma, PTSD, and the ways traumatic stress shows up in the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. I also specialize in emotional dysregulation and ADHD in adults. I work exclusively with adults on an individual basis, and I often work with healthcare providers, people in the tech industry, and online creators and influencers. You can read more on the Trauma Therapy and Yoga & Somatics pages.

What is EMDR, and are you trained in it? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. Rather than talking through traumatic memories in detail, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — typically guided eye movements — to help the brain process difficult experiences in a way that reduces their emotional charge. I am an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, meaning I've completed rigorous training, consultation hours, and ongoing continuing education through EMDRIA, the internationally recognized authority on EMDR practice.

What happens in the first session? The first session is an intake session. We'll go through some paperwork together and get you set up in your Simple Practice client portal. Beyond the logistics, I use this session to get to know you. The most important thing is for me to understand where you're coming from, what's brought you to therapy, and what you're hoping for. It's a conversation, not an interrogation. From there, we meet weekly; I've found that less frequent sessions tend to create a sense that nothing is happening, which doesn't serve anyone.
